Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA)

Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA)

Details

Isopropanol is a nan-potable alcohol, suitable for industrial cleansing where a waterless environment is desired.
Used for expoxy and acrylic resins, ethyl cellulose, palyvinyl butyral, alkaloids, gums, shellac, natural resins and many essential oils.

Used as a coupling agent (cleaning and polishing), an extractant, a dehydrating fluid, a de-icing fluids, a cooling system medium (frozen food industry), a wetting agent (lithographic printing, and chemical intermediate (manufacture of other materials).

Benefits
  • IPA farms azeatropic mixtures with water and many organic liquids. Although IPA itself is not a solvent for nitrocellulose, in combination with a true solvent, it increases the latter's solvent power for nitrocellulose lacquers and thinners.
  • Isopropanol is readily available and inexpensive. It is often a suitable alternative to 1ooi'0 ethanols where increased solubility is required.
  • Isopropanol is often used in human contact situations.
